The micro, small and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) sector is a key driver for economic growth. All around the world, and it is the same for Jamaica, the MSME sector is a major engine of growth.

Typically, MSMEs account for more than 90 per cent of all firms, 60 per cent of employment and between 40 per cent and 60 per cent of output in most economies.

In Jamaica, the sector contributed $80 billion in revenue in 2018, accounting for 35 per cent of jobs. That is a big deal.

This podcast series aims to capture the entrepreneurial spirit, the determination and energy of small business, men and women across the country; and in key diaspora communities.

The series will share people’s joy of operating a business – the ownership, the competition, the satisfaction of bringing products to market – and the challenges and how they overcame to thrive.

We hope the stories will encourage others to get into business.

Bonus podcast episodes will bring useful information to those in the sector and those wanting to get into business, working closely with financial institutions and other entities that support the small business community.
